Internet Fraud and Email Phising - 8/9/2010
Through out Namibia, many have been receiving malicious emails, suspicious mobile text messages. Usually stating it's origin from a reliable source, fraudulant emails request you to enter personal information, usually account information for updating.
Many Banks, now offering Online Banking, are facing attackers not only impersonating bank officials, but successfully duplicating said organisations' websites. The newest form of fraudulant attacks, now occuring via mobile networks (cell phone banking), requesting users to reply or update criteria, and in so doing having their mobile credit wiped out and possibly their bank details exposed at the press of the button.
There are a few online organisations, dedicated to atiphishing & Fraud, whom accept direct emails from users who have or are currently experiencing Fraudulent & Phishing attacks. Report malicious or suspicious emails, visit their web site, and report your findings.
